The Now Illusion: Why You’re Always Elsewhere
You’ll never hold the future. You’ll never fix the past.
A man spends 10 years building his dream business.
And every night, as his head hits the pillow, he’s haunted by two ghosts:
Everything he should’ve done differently…
And everything he hasn’t achieved yet.
He doesn’t sleep much. And worse, he never really feels whole.
Because he’s always somewhere else.
We treat the present like a layover.
Something to get through on the way to something more important.
Something to fix by untangling the past or scripting the future just right.
But the truth is you’ve never done anything outside the present.
You’ve never taken action in the past.
You’ve never made moves in the future.
Your whole life has happened…
Now.
Now.
And now.
Yet your mind fights this fact every flipping day.
You revisit shit that ended months ago.
You get caught up on problems that haven’t happened yet.
You try to control the future meanwhile avoiding the present discomfort.
It feels productive but it’s really not.
Thinking isn’t progress, making a move forward is.
Stop outsourcing your peace to a timeline you can’t touch.
Stop thinking once you “get there” - you'll finally feel how you want to feel.
Unfortunately you won’t, and I say this from experience…“there” never comes.
There’s always another level. Another problem. Another loop.
If you don’t train your mind to return to the now,
You’ll forever be in your mind thinking of what you should’ve done.
You can’t rewind. You can’t fast forward.
You can only play the scene you’re in.
So play it fully. Play it like it’s the only one that matters.
Because it is the only one that matters.
